Dr. Zakiya Rice was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, attending The Lakeside School (also Bill Gate’s Alma Mater).
She then obtained her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. Returning to
Seattle, she attended the University of Washington School of Medicine graduating at the top of her class with
election to Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Her pediatric training was at Seattle Children’s
Hospital and her dermatology training was at the Emory University School of Medicine in the Department of
Dermatology. She served as chief resident in her senior year of both respective residency programs.
As a triple board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Rice enjoys seeing her beloved patients at Dermatology
Associates of Georgia (DAG), in the Piedmont/ Buckhead Office in Atlanta, Georgia with her inspiring DAG
colleagues and teammates. She is a full-service dermatologist with specialization in pediatric, adult medical,
and cosmetic dermatology, specifically facial rejuvenation. Of note, she is a 8-time consecutive recipient for
Atlanta Top Doctor Recipient for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Proudly, Dr. Z is an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at Emory School of Medicine in the Department of
Dermatology, she is actively involved in resident training over the last 15 years through didactics and hands on
patient instruction.
Dr. Zakiya Rice is a dermatology national and international key opinion leader. She has 20 years of clinical trial
experience, serving as a principal or co- investigator in over 30 clinical trials, as well as consulting as CEO and
Founder of Pantones LLC, a Dermatology Company. She has >100 peer-reviewed paper/poster/article
publications in the top dermatology journals, including Journal of American Medical Association of
Dermatology, Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, and Dermatologic Surgery Journal. Also, she has
contributed to CNN, Fox News, and Young and Woke medical segments, O Magazine, Self Magazine, Allure
magazine, Insider, and Web MD.
Patient and collegial advocacy is at the heart of Dr. Z’s dermatological service, she is: 1) an American Academy
of Dermatology (AAD) Board of Advisor, since 2012 serving on the AAD Atopic Dermatitis Task Force; 2) the
2026 President Georgia Society for Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery; 3) the 2021 President of the
Atlanta Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery Association; 4) a member of Society for Pediatric
Dermatology since 2013, serving on Practice Management Committee, Social Media Committee, and Diversity
Equity and Inclusion; 5) a member of Skin of Color Society, serving on Scientific Advisory Committee,
Nominations Committee, and Mentorship Committee since 2013; and 6) a member of Women’s
Dermatological Society since 2013.
Finally, Dr. Rice is a devoted wife (30 years and counting) and proud mother of two amazing daughters.
