About Dr. Loretta S. Davis

The Loretta S Davis High School Camp Discovery Scholarship was established to honor the distinguished career and lasting impact of Dr. Loretta Davis, an esteemed dermatologist, educator, and mentor. This scholarship is awarded annually to a high school student with an interest in medicine—especially dermatology—who is selected to attend Camp Discovery or another early enrichment experience aimed at nurturing future leaders in health care.

Dr. Davis currently serves as Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, where she has been a transformative figure in medical education and patient care since joining the faculty in 1992. A graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State College of Medicine, she completed residencies in both internal medicine and dermatology and is board-certified in both specialties. Her clinical interests include autoimmune skin diseases, complex medical dermatology, and the skin manifestations of systemic disease.

An award-winning educator, Dr. Davis serves as Dermatology Residency Program Director and mentor to countless students pursuing careers in dermatology. Her accolades include the AAD Patient Care Hero Award, multiple Exemplary Teaching Awards, and recognition as a Castle Connolly Exceptional Woman in Medicine. With over 130 publications, she is also a respected voice in academic dermatology and a sought-after speaker and consultant.

Through this scholarship, The DermElevate Scholarship Initiative proudly honors Dr. Davis’s enduring commitment to education, mentorship, and advancing the field of dermatology. The award supports students who demonstrate intellectual curiosity, compassion, and a passion for health care, by helping to remove financial barriers to formative early experiences.

By investing in the next generation, we continue Dr. Davis’s legacy—lifting others through knowledge, leadership, and service in dermatology and beyond.
